"This means over one million people don't have to wait at the doorstep, trek to the depot or count on others to sign for a package," said Nicolas Dorget, vice president, strategic alliances, UPS Canada. "Consumers are clearly embracing the ease this brings to their deliveries."

UPS My Choice free service, allows members to receive an email or text message the day before a shipment arrives. If he or she won't be home, packages can be rerouted, with options ranging from their workplace to a nearby UPS Access Point® location where they can pick up their package on the same day as the scheduled delivery. Members can also provide instructions for their UPS driver on where to leave their packages, such as the back porch or side of the garage.

To celebrate the service milestone, UPS Canada partnered with cosmetics giant Mary Kay Cosmetics Ltd. to throw a holiday-themed event featuring Mrs. Claus in Toronto. Set up on the corner of Front Street and Lower Simcoe on November 9, and again at the Toronto Christmas Market on November 16, a UPS package car was transformed into Mrs. Claus' den with festive décor and some of her favourite things. The famous gift giver took pictures with passersby and handed out a few of her preferred Mary Kay products, including mascara and an eye makeup remover. "Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultants rely on UPS for fast-and-efficient service," said Jeff Grigg, Director of Operations, Mary Kay Canada. "UPS My Choice service gives the gift of convenience and allows them to take control over their deliveries."

A recent UPS study commissioned by comScore showed that 78 per cent of Canadian consumers want to receive a notification when their package has been shipped1. UPS My Choice service does this, adding a layer of visibility into scheduled deliveries, helping to make sure gifts and online purchases are safe and secure. Online shoppers travelling for the holidays can also activate a vacation setting to have packages held and delivered at a later date.
