AMSTERDAM, Sept 2 (Reuters) - Flows through the BBL pipeline, which
transports gas from the Netherlands to Britain, resumed on Tuesday after an
earlier unexpected outage, according to data from UK grid operator National Grid
.
The data showed flows into Bacton from the BBL pipeline resumed at about
0950 GMT and had returned to the pre-shutdown level of 15 million cubic metres
20 minutes later.
Flows through the pipeline had stopped at about 0915 GMT due to a problem
with the heaters at its entry point in Britain, a spokesman for pipeline
operator Gasunie told Reuters earlier.
"Shippers won't feel it, they won't notice it at the end of the day, we will
make up the volume," the spokesman said.
Gasunie and BBL were not immediately available to confirm whether flows
through the pipeline were back to normal.
The Balgzand-Bacton (BBL) pipeline can supply up to 16 billion cubic metres
a year of gas to Britain, which needs to import more and more gas to make up for
declining production from its ageing North Sea fields.
