BOSTON (Thomson Financial) - UMB Financial Corp. Tuesday reported
fourth-quarter earnings of $15.3 million, or 37 cents a share, including a
pretax liability accrual of $4.6 million related to the company's estimated
share of Visa U.S.A. Inc.'s covered litigation provision.
Excluding the charges, net income for the fourth quarter would have totaled
$17.8 million.
In the year-earlier fourth quarter, the Kansas City, Mo.-based financial
holding company posted net earnings of $15.8 million, or 37 cents a share.
The mean estimate of analysts polled by Thomson Financial, which typically
excludes charges, was 45 cents a share.
UMB said total assets for the fourth quarter rose 3.8% to $8.1 billion from
$7.8 billion in the same period a year earlier.
Shares rose 3.4% to $37.80.
