LONDON (Thomson Financial) - The UK Ministry of Defence said its Type 23
frigate HMS Monmouth is to get a boost to her top speed in a 9 million pounds
overhaul to be carried out by Babcock Marine at Rosyth in Scotland.
The ministry also said it expects the team in Rosyth to spend eight months,
starting in June, getting HMS Monmouth fighting fit.
The refit will include an upgraded surface ship torpedo defence system and
modifications to the gearbox systems to enable the ship to operate at increased
power and speed, it added.
