Labor Shortage, Access to Care are Key Issues Facing State
SACRAMENTO, Calif., May 5 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Caregivers from around California on Monday will host the latest in a series of statewide forums, in which experts in the field will discuss the crisis facing the state's healthcare infrastructure and potential solutions.
The 2008 Quality Care Forum will tackle challenges such as the looming shortage in healthcare workers, the wide disparities in quality of care delivered at different hospitals and in different regions of the state, and the acute need to increase access to care for millions of uninsured and underinsured Californians.
Already this year, more than 75,000 hospital and nursing home workers are negotiating new contracts at their facilities for the same purpose--to provide the highest possible level of care.
