“It’s an honor to be recognized again by the EPA for our innovative energy efficiency solutions that are helping our customers save energy and money every day,” said Craig Adams, PECO president and CEO. “Receiving the Sustained Excellence Award designation is a true testament to the ongoing success of PECO Smart Ideas and the commitment our customers have to improving energy efficiency in their homes and businesses.”

This is the first year PECO has received the Sustained Excellence designation. This award is reserved for those who have received the ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year award more than three times and exhibit exceptional leadership year after year in the ENERGY STAR program while remaining dedicated to environmental protection through superior energy efficiency.

Since the inception of PECO Smart Ideas in 2009, PECO has received eight awards in total and now receives its fourth Partner of the Year Award in Energy Efficiency Program Delivery for its continued leadership in protecting the environment through energy efficiency efforts. The company is commended for its continuous contributions to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by delivering information, services and products to its customers to increase energy efficiency.

PECO Smart Ideas offers programs to help residential, business, government, nonprofit and institutional customers save energy and money. Since 2009, PECO customers have saved more than $525 million through energy efficiency and PECO Smart Ideas rebates, and reduced their electricity use by more than 2.2 million megawatt hours – enough energy to power more than 186,000 typical U.S. homes for a year.

In addition to the EPA awards, PECO Smart Ideas has been honored by energy industry leaders and other organizations, including:

  • 2014 Keystone Energy Efficiency Alliance Energy Champion Award
  • 2014 E-Source Outdoor Ad Award
  • 2013 E-Source Overall Ad Campaign Award
  • 2012 Peak Load Management Alliance Outstanding Program Achievement Award
  • 2011 E-Source Best Radio Ad Award
  • 2010 Chartwell Utility Best Practices Award for Marketing Excellence
  • 2010 E-Source Print Ad Award

“By continued collaboration with ENERGY STAR, PECO is helping Americans save money, save energy and do their part to reduce our nation’s greenhouse gas emissions that exacerbate climate change,” said EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy. “I'm proud to recognize PECO with the highest form of ENERGY STAR recognition as the winner of the 2016 Partner of the Year: Sustained Excellence Award.”

Since its inception in 1992, ENERGY STAR and its partners have helped prevent a total of more than 2.4 billion metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions.
