Twenty Exactech Knee abstracts, featuring the company’s breakthrough technology ExactechGPS® Guided Personalized Surgery, have been accepted into five leading orthopaedic conferences:

  • The European Federation of National Associations of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (EFORT) annual congress (June 4-6)
  • The South Korean Computer Aided Orthopaedic Surgery (CAOS) annual meeting (June 13-16)
  • The International Society for CAOS annual meeting (June 18-21)
  • The European Orthopaedic Research Society (EORS) annual meeting (July 2-4)
  • The International Congress for Joint Reconstruction (ICJR) Pan Pacific Congress (July 16-19)

“It is a privilege to have the scientific committees at these well-renowned industry conferences recognize Exactech’s solution for advanced surgical technologies,” said Laurent Angibaud, director of Exactech Knee Engineering and Development. “The selected abstracts cover multiple facets of the ExactechGPS system, including pre-clinical studies evaluating the effects of bone deformity on surgical accuracy, a technical paper detailing an improved algorithm used to accurately compute femoral sizes and a clinical evaluation on 324 cases using ExactechGPS.”

Speaking on behalf of the clinical evaluation, Gérard Giordano, MD, of Joseph Ducuing Hospital in Toulouse, France and Exactech consultant, said, “Literature shows resection accuracy plays a crucial role in longevity for total knee arthroplasty. The three sites analysis provided excellent feedback for the accuracy and reproducibility of the ExactechGPS technology, as well as its benefit for personalization with specific profiles based on the patient’s needs, a value-add for the most difficult cases. I find the pre-operative adjustability and real-time feedback of the system increases efficiency and ultimately, the performance of the surgery.”

The abstracts presented during the aforementioned events include the following studies:

  • Evaluation of a new computer guidance system – new sites
  • Evaluation of bone deformity on accuracy of a computer-assisted guidance system for total knee arthroplasty
  • Evaluation of bone deformity on alignment discrepancies during total knee arthroplasty using an image-free computer-assisted guidance system
  • Effects of repetitive training practices using an image-free computer-assisted guidance system on cognitive and technical skills
  • Introducing monitored real-time patient-specific technique for total knee arthroplasty
  • A novel method for accurate determination of knee prosthesis sizing in total knee arthroplasty navigation

The Exactech Knee system offers a personalized approach to surgical techniques that allows for efficiency and reproducibility. Customized for surgeon preferences, ExactechGPS® Guided Personalized Surgery is an advanced surgical technology that presents a real-time patient-specific solution for total knee replacement.
