LONDON--Africa-focused Tullow Oil PLC (TLW.LN) said Tuesday it will plug and abandon the Emesek-1 exploration well in Block 13T in the North Lokichar basin, northern Kenya, after failing to encounter commercial quantities of oil and gas.

Following completion of operations, the rig at Emesek-1 will move to the South Lokichar basin to drill the Etom-2 well which is expected to start drilling in late November.

Tullow is a 50% owner and operator of Block 13T while Africa Oil Corporation owns the reamining 50% stake.
