Cable provider deploys Gigabit services to
provide a richer online experience for more than 40,000 households
in Southeast Alabama
ADTRAN®, Inc., (NASDAQ: ADTN), a leading provider of
next-generation networking solutions, today announced a new
addition to its Enabling Communities, Connecting Lives program.
Troy Cable has selected ADTRAN’s advanced Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH)
portfolio for its Gigabit Internet Service offering for residential
customers in more than 20 communities across Alabama. One hundred
times faster than today’s basic broadband, residents will no longer
have to wait for streaming to buffer thereby making gaming, movie
streaming and video chats much better experiences.
As one of the first true Gigabit networks in Alabama, Troy Cable
is continuing its long history of investing back into the community
while addressing the needs of key customers and market segments.
Today’s millennial generation, for example, demands more capacity
and bandwidth than ever before. With their hands full of connected
devices, these consumers are focused on services that provide
top-quality broadband to view videos, access social media and
connect to global events. They’re three times more likely than
non-millennials to watch television online and are willing to pay
for high-quality viewing with minimal pauses and interference. The
Gigabit Internet Service enables Troy Cable to meet the demands of
these tech-savvy customers with symmetrical broadband speeds of up
to one Gigabit.
“Our customers expect the fastest internet connection possible
for telecommuting, video streaming, gaming and more. Add to that
the growing number of devices in each household, launching a
Gigabit Internet Service offering was a logical next step. We have
the fiber infrastructure in place and are delivering the fastest,
most reliable Gigabit service available in Alabama,” said Jake
Cowen, General Manager of Troy Cable. “ADTRAN’s Gigabit services
architecture helped make this happen by allowing us to continue
investing in the future of our community and provide the best
network infrastructure possible for our customers.”
“As Troy Cable remains dedicated to enhancing the community’s
broadband infrastructure, they’re changing the way customers look
at cable companies,” said Mitch Fleming, regional vice president,
sales, ADTRAN Carrier Networks Division. “Beyond offering standard
cable services, Troy Cable is thinking long-term by offering its
customers a complete portfolio of solutions. They are taking
broadband service offering to the next level, as well as finding a
competitive differentiator in a demanding marketplace.”
ADTRAN’s Enabling Communities, Connecting Lives program
showcases how innovative technologies are being used in cities,
towns and communities across the country to support economic growth
and local business development. These communities are using
ADTRAN’s world-class Gigabit broadband, Wi-Fi and Cloud service
offerings to re-invigorate downtown business and residential
districts, connect classrooms with other learning centers around
the world, and help attract new companies seeking to relocate out
of crowded urban centers.
