PICKERINGTON, Ohio, Aug. 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- R.G. Barry Corporation (AMEX:DFZ), exclusive North American licensee for Superga(R) canvas/active fashion footwear, was honored for the most creative use of trade show booth space with its unique presentation introducing the Italian luxe footwear brand to retailers attending the World Shoe Association's footwear and accessories marketplace in Las Vegas July 30-Aug. 1.
The display was developed using Turin, Italy-based Superga(R)'s recent European advertising campaign. Ads in the campaign featured the footwear company's classic 2750 sneaker and the classic product of another legendary Turin-based business, Fiat.
Duplicating the ad campaign concept for its display, R.G. Barry placed 60 miniature Fiat 500s on a ramp-like highway within the 20-by-20 foot booth area. Each tiny car carried a different color or fabrication of the iconic Superga 2750 sneaker tied to its roof. Skyline Exhibits of Central Ohio executed the display for the Company.
"This was literally a traffic-stopping presentation that allowed us to introduce Superga(R) to many of North America's premier footwear retailers," said Juliana J. Prather, brand president for R.G. Barry's Superga(R) business. "Superga(R) is the leader in European luxe canvas and vulcanized footwear, yet it remains relatively unknown here. This is our first step toward eliminating that anonymity and bringing this incredible classic European footwear brand to U.S. and Canadian consumers." The Superga(R) brand was founded in Italy in 1911 and today offers a broad array of canvas/active fashion footwear throughout Europe. R.G. Barry Corporation is the exclusive Superga(R) licensee in the United States and, beginning in July 2008, in Canada, under an agreement with BasicNet S.p.A. of Turin, through its U.S. affiliate, Basic Properties America, Inc.
Superga(R) will be available through North America's premier department stores and leading footwear boutiques for spring 2008.
