The fifteen minute fantasy-horror-comedy short film is both
Valentine's Day and St. Patrick's Day themed, and stars octogenarian
character acting icon James Hong
(KUNG FU PANDA 3, CHINATOWN, BLADE
RUNNER, BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA), Tonya
Banks (Lifetime's "Little Women: LA"), Steve Moulton (SHARKNADO), Mary O'Neil, and Patrick
Quinlan.
The film tells the story of a young woman whose attempt to buy
her boyfriend a rare leprechaun t-shirt – based on his favorite
viral video – unveils a supernatural scam. Yes, the film is about
that famous Mobile, Alabama
Leprechaun news report turned viral video, which is sure to be
revisited online by millions again this year. That video has
already inspired dozens of reaction videos, including on "Key &
Peele", "South Park", and "Tosh.O", but DIY writer, director,
editor, and digital effects artist Kelly
Goodner gives it gloss, special effects, and a feminist
twist. Looking beyond the citizens who claim to have seen a
leprechaun, this short is about the fans the viral video has
infected… and the leprechaun. If that isn't enough, the short is
based on a true story – up to a point.
No one knows what ingredients make for a viral video like TOO
MANY COOKS or KUNG FURY, but this
double duty holiday short with its diverse cast and female genre
director, could have a long reach.
The short will be public on YouTube on February 14th.
