SAN FRANCISCO (Thomson Financial) - Theravance Inc. said late Wednesday
GlaxoSmithKline plc has initiated subject screening in a Phase I clinical study
designed to assess the safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics of an
investigational, inhaled
bronchodilator, GSK1160724, for the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary
disease.
The compound was discovered by Theravance and is being developed by Glaxo
under a strategic alliance agreement, South San Francisco, Calif.-based
Theravance said.
Shares of Theravance rose 3 cents to close at $23.62.
