"We're overwhelmed by the response of the theatre loving
community," said producer, Steve
Sunshine. "And that community has reached around the
world with contributions from as far away as Hong Kong, New
Zealand and Athens,
Greece. Our dream has always been Broadway, but our goal
right now is to finance a 12-week run at The Matrix Theatre in L.A.
in January – and people have just responded in an unimaginable
way."
"Serrano" is an homage to the classic, "Cyrano de Bergerac." In this adaptation,
"Serrano" works for "Don Reyo," a
mobster in Little Italy with an uncouth and foul-mouthed nephew,
"Vinnie," who just happens to have the face of Adonis.
"Don Reyo" orders "Serrano" to
teach his nephew how to woo the beautiful Rosanna for his own ill
gotten means, and the lovely Rosanna doesn't stand a chance.
She falls in love with the beautiful words of "Serrano," but
the sweet face of "Vinnie"!
"Serrano" is directed by Tony nominee, Joel Zwick
(My Big Fat Greek
Wedding). "Serrano" is being presented by award winning
Hollywood producers Mark Wolper, Steve
Sunshine, Spencer Proffer and
David Geha along with Phillipa Sledge. Music & Lyrics by
Madeline Sunshine & Robert Tepper, and the Musical director is
Jeff Rizzo.
"My wife and I saw an early production and it is very funny,
great songs too!" said Mario
Lopez, Host of "Extra" and a fan of "Serrano."
This is their first run at Broadway but they all have one thing
in common: a life-long love of musical theatre. For more
