NEW YORK (Thomson Financial) - Tessera Technologies Inc. Thursday said the
U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (PTO) hadn't overturned its patents and said
the validity of the patents had been mischaracterized.
Tessera said the PTO recently issued actions regarding claims in five of the
company's patents, what the company said was a normal step in the PTO's process
of re-examining patents.
Tessera said it expected an initial office action for a sixth patent in the
coming weeks and that it was familiar with all the patents in question because
of previous lawsuits, all of which had been resolved in the company's favor.
The company said it remains confident in the validity of all its patents.
Shares of the San Jose, Calif.-based provider of miniaturization technology
closed Wednesday at $13.82.
