Tennant Company ReadySpace(TM) Carpet Care Technology Returns
Cleaned Carpets to Service Quickly
'Clean-to-Use' Technology Will Benefit Users in Retail, Education, Healthcare,
and Hospitality
MINNEAPOLIS, Aug. 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Tennant Company (NYSE:TNC), one
of the world's leading manufacturers of surface maintenance equipment, today
introduced a revolutionary new commercial carpet care technology called
ReadySpace. Unlike most other wet cleaning commercial carpet care products or
technologies on the market today, the patented ReadySpace technology, available
on the Tennant 1610 Dual Technology Carpet Cleaner and Nobles Strive(TM) Dual
Technology Carpet Cleaner, creates clean carpet spaces that are dry and ready
for foot traffic in about 30 minutes or less.
"We see this as a breakthrough technology that will further position Tennant
Company as a leader in carpet care," said Janet Dolan, president and CEO of
Tennant Company. "The technology is expected to have a profound impact on the
way commercial carpets are cleaned. We expect our ReadySpace technology to do
for carpet what FaST(TM) has done for hard floors. Already, ReadySpace is
receiving acclaim from leaders in the carpet care industry." Jeff Bishop, administrator of Clean Care Seminars and a leading technical
advisor to a number of cleaning industry trade associations, believes Tennant's
ReadySpace technology is the most innovative cleaning process to be introduced
in years. "ReadySpace offers what no other carpet care product on the market
offers -- a clean carpet that's ready to use in just minutes. It's the fastest,
most efficient maintenance cleaning process I've ever seen. I think it's a
guarantee for commercial cleaning success." Historically, commercial carpet care professionals have implemented a number of
cleaning methods to achieve clean carpets, but none of those methods has proven
to meet the industry's needs. Current methods require upwards of 15 to 18 hours
drying time due to the amount of water applied to the carpet. Such methods
constrain cleaning crews to periodic cleaning done only at night or on
weekends. In addition, for 15 to 18 hours, carpets cannot be used by customers
or employees, costing companies significantly in lost revenue.
Targeting soil within the carpet pile, the ReadySpace technology removes the
dirt that diminishes carpet appearance, luster and life span. Unlike
traditional carpet care products, ReadySpace relies on sprayer units that apply
water to two counter-rotating, specially designed fabric rollers that pick up
the soil from the carpet. As the rollers turn at a rate of approximately 400
times per minute, they are rinsed with a solution spray, and a built-in vacuum
extracts the soil from the rollers. Very little water reaches the carpet
because the carpet is never actually sprayed with water. Independent testing by
Professional Testing Laboratory, Inc., in Dalton, Georgia, shows that
ReadySpace is very effective at cleaning the carpet by targeting embedded soil,
dramatically improving carpet appearance, and significantly reducing carpet dry
times.
East Kentwood High School in Kentwood, Michigan, has 220,000 square feet of
carpet and 2,300 students. According to Dana Langworthy, maintenance and
custodial team leader with the school, the ReadySpace technology lives up to
its name. "With ReadySpace's ability to deliver virtually negligible dry times,
we won't be caught in the dry time situations we used to get caught in. ReadySpace will allow us to clean the carpets, drastically improve the school's
appearance, and increase the image of our school -- all because the carpets
will be clean, dry and ready before visitors arrive." Langworthy added that
ReadySpace products not only delivered on rapid dry times -- 15 to 20 minutes
at the most -- but also on cleaning performance. "In fact, because I can clean
our carpeted areas more frequently, we can schedule restorative extraction
cleaning for periods when the related longer drying times are less problematic
for our faculty, students and staff." The most significant end-user benefit of the ReadySpace technology is that it
returns clean carpets to service quickly -- typically in less than 30 minutes. This means that carpeted areas can be re-opened and used sooner. Additional
benefits include: -- increased carpet cleanliness and appearance because more frequent
cleaning is possible;
-- increased safety that is achieved with drier carpets and carpets that
dry more quickly (there is less likelihood of wet shoes transitioning
from wet carpeting to hard floor surfaces);
-- increased intervals between restorative extraction cleaning because
frequent ReadySpace cleaning removes the dirt before it penetrates to
the base of the carpet fibers;
-- decreased wick-back due to less water contacting the carpet;
-- decreased mold and indoor air quality issues with a carpet that is
drier faster; and
-- decreased potential for re-soiling with a carpet that is drier faster.
"The commercial carpet care industry has been looking for a technology like
ReadySpace -- one that removes the dry time barrier to carpet cleaning and
improves carpet cleanliness and appearance," said Dolan. "Tennant Company is
setting a new standard for performance with ReadySpace." Tennant Company Minneapolis-based Tennant Company (NYSE:TNC) is a world leader in designing,
manufacturing and marketing solutions -- such as FaST and ReadySpace -- that
