MILAN--Italy's Telecom Italia said Friday its third-quarter net profit surged 43% to EUR477 million ($529.8 million), reflecting efficiency gains from the company's turnaround plan started earlier this year.

The country's largest telecom operator said that earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization rose 8.5% to EUR2.15 billion in the three months to end-September from the same period last year, while earnings before interest and taxes rose 6.2% to EUR1.1 billion.

Revenue for the quarter stood at EUR4.8 billion, up 1.4% from the same period a year earlier.
