MILAN--Italy's Telecom Italia said Friday its third-quarter net profit surged 43% from a year earlier, to EUR477 million ($529.8 million), reflecting efficiency gains from the company's turnaround plan started earlier this year.

The country's largest telecom operator said that earnings before interest tax depreciation and amortization, or Ebitda, rose 8.5% year-over-year, to EUR2.15 billion, while Ebit was up 6.2% at EUR1.1 billion.

Revenue for the quarter stood at EUR4.8 billion, up 1.4% from the same period a year earlier.
