NEW YORK (Thomson Financial) - Tecumseh Products Co. reported late Wednesday
its third-quarter loss widened to 77.2 million, or a loss of $4.18 a share, from
a loss of $37.8 million, or $2.05 a share, a year earlier.
Net loss from continuing operations for the quarter was $22.6 million, or a
loss of $1.23 a share, compared with a loss of $38.3 million, or a loss of $2.07
a share, in the same period a year ago.
Sales for the period ended Sept. 30 rose to $336.1 million from $319.5
million.
The Tecumseh, Mich.-based maker of compressor products said the outlook for
the fourth quarter is subject to the same variables that have "negatively"
impacted the company throughout 2006 and the first nine months of 2007.
"Commodity costs, key currency rates, weather and the overall growth rates
of the respective economies around the world are all important to future
performance. Overall, we do not expect these factors to become any more
favorable in the foreseeable future," the company said in a press release.
