Talisman Energy makes small oil discovery near the North Sea's Varg field

        OSLO (Thomson Financial) - Talisman Energy Norge AS has made a small oil
discovery near the North Sea's Varg field, the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate
said this morning.
    "The size of the discovery is between 0.1 and 0.25 million cubic metres of
recoverable oil," the NPD said.
    The discovery was made in production licence 038, about 0.5 kilometres west
of the Varg field.
    Talisman has a 65 percent stake in the field, while Norway's state-owned oil
firm Petoro has 30 percent, and DNO spin-off Det norske oljeselskap ASA has the
remaining 5 percent.
