TAIPEI (XFN-ASIA) - Taiwan is not ruling out the possibility of an initial
agreement with China this month on the supervision of the securities industry,
the Economic Daily News reported, citing an unidentified official with the
Financial Supervisory Commission.
The island's financial regulator is looking forward to such an agreement
when both sides attend the May 26-29 annual convention of the International
Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) in Paris, the official said.
The convention takes place after the new government of president-elect Ma
Ying-jeou takes office on May 20.
Taiwan's IOSCO mission will be headed by the current chairman of the FSC, Hu
Sheng-cheng, whose term runs to the end of June, the official added.
