increase fivefold its offer for Bear Stearns Cos. to $10 a share, The New York

Air One ready to make binding counterbid for Alitalia, needs 3 weeks - report
    MILAN (Thomson Financial) - Air One is ready to make a binding bid to buy
the 49.9 pct stake in Alitalia SpA that the Italian state is selling, but needs
three weeks to carry out the due diligence, said chairman Carlo Toto in an
interview with Saturday's daily la Repubblica.

    MOSCOW (Thomson Financial) - Russia's United Aircraft Corp (UAC) said it
made a 22.28 ruble per share offer to Irkut Corp shareholders for a 49.9 pct
stake in the company, Interfax reported.

Rio Tinto seeks ties with China groups
    LONDON (Thomson Financial) - Rio Tinto PLC said it wants to work with
Chinese state companies to develop projects overseas in what appears to be a
deliberate attempt to deepen ties with its most important customer, the
Financial Times reported.

Iride in merger talks, but current focus is on business plan
    MILAN (Thomson Financial) - Iride SpA, the utility controlled by the cities
of Genoa and Turin, is open to mergers but the current focus is the utility's
business plan, the already defined investments and the completion of the Livorno
regasifier and the hydroelectric power plant in Turin, said executive chairman
Roberto Bazzano in an interview with Saturday's daily Corriere della Sera.

Telecom Italia receives three offers for Alice France unit - report
    MILAN (Thomson Financial) - Telecom Italia SpA has received three
non-binding offers for its French unit Alice France and the sale of the unit,
valued at some 800-900 mln eur, should be concluded by July, according to an
un-sourced report in Saturday's Il Sole 24 Ore daily.
