Economy shows resilience; jobless rate falls as dollar rises

The economy showed off unexpected signs of resilience Friday as job losses
slowed, the dollar gained a bit of muscle for a change and there were even
indications that food prices may be easing. The unemployment rate dipped, though
that may not last.

June gold $8.58, up $7.10 an ounce
July silver $16.465, up 26 cents an ounce
July copper $3.8205, up 12.6 cents a pound
