MAJOR U.S. EQUITY INDEXES:
Wall Street is looking at a lower open Monday as Lehman Brothers Holdings
Inc. filed a $350 million lawsuit in Japan, claiming it has been the victim of a
bogus investment scheme.
Schering-Plough Corp. and Merck & Co. may move lower on questions over the
efficacy of one of their blockbuster anti-cholesterol drugs.
According to spread bettors IG Index, the Dow Jones industrial average is
expected to open down 17 points at 12,199. S&P 500 futures were off 4.90 points
at 1,314, while Nasdaq 100 futures dropped 5 points to 1,775.0.
On Friday, Wall Street finished the week with a decline following a report
that showed personal spending at its weakest growth in 17 months and a profit
warning from J.C. Penney Co.
The Dow Jones industrials fell 86.06 points, or 0.7%, to close at 12,216.40,
the Nasdaq composite index lost 19.65, or 0.86%, to 2,261.18, and the S&P 500
index dropped 10.54, or 0.8%, to 1,315.22. The yield on the benchmark 10-year
Treasury note slipped to 3.45% from 3.52% late Thursday, and light, sweet crude
fell $1.96 to settle at $105.62 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

AFTER-HOURS ACTION:
After Friday's close of trading, a Delaware judge ruled in favor of IAC
Interactive CEO Barry Diller in a dispute with Liberty Media Corp., a
controlling shareholder in the InterActiveCorp Internet conglomerate. Clear
Channel Communications Inc. said it won't pay its first-quarter dividend, at the
request of the private equity groups that have agreed to take the company
private. Altria Group Inc. said it has completed its spinoff of Philip Morris
International Inc.
