One year after the launch of its National Information Exchange (NIE)
Gateway solution for government data-sharing and intelligence efforts,
Sypherlink debuts the NIEM Harmonizer out-of-the-box solution for
enabling law enforcement agencies and public safety application vendors
of all sizes to quickly and cost-effectively share their critical data
with local, state and federal agencies and conform to the national
information exchange model (NIEM) standard.
Sypherlink will demonstrate this new component to its NIE Gateway
Solution at the 32nd Annual Conference of the
International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP)
Law Enforcement Information Management (LEIM)
Section in Nashville, Tenn., May 7-9, where it is an event sponsor.
“The NIEM Harmonizer solution allows an agency
or vendor of any size, regardless of available technical resources, to
share information across jurisdictional boundaries, supporting public
safety and national security efforts,” said
Sypherlink CEO James Paat. “The significant
input of time, money and technical skills previously required is
completely off-loaded to the pre-configured application, allowing agency
and vendor personnel to stay focused on their daily activities.”
Paat explained that the solution works behind the scenes to automate
every step of the data sharing and conversion process. The solution, as
delivered to the agency, leverages pre-configured mappings from the
agency-specific system to NIEM; provides a NIEM-conformant view of the
agency data; and automatically generates XML conforming to the target
recipient’s requirements. It also supports
simple and complex XML requirements, such as the Department of Justice’s
LEXS (Law Enforcement Information Sharing Program Exchange
Specification), which is leveraged by such agencies as the FBI.
In addition to presenting live product demonstrations, Sypherlink will
be joined by key industry partners and experts involved in the
integrated justice data-exchange “supply chain.”
These experts will present individual “NIEM
In-Perspective” sessions addressing how to
leverage the NIEM standard and Sypherlink’s
NIE Gateway solution for every critical aspect of data and intelligence
sharing.
Following is the schedule of 10-minute presentations, which will take
place daily between 11 a.m. and noon in the theater at Sypherlink’s
and its partners’ exhibit, booths #720 & #722:
-- Wednesday, May 7
-- 11:30 am: Joel Neubert, Acxiom

not, and how NIEM and the NIE Gateway solution can help
solve the problems

cost-effective, NIEM-conformant data exchange and
integration
Paat will open each day’s presentation with a
brief overview of how the NIE Gateway solution can simplify and
accelerate NIEM conformance and maintenance.
Chawdry also will be co-presenting a session during the conference, on
Friday, May 9, from 1:30-2:30 p.m., titled “NIEM
in Action: Roadmap to Successful Standards-based Information Sharing,”
providing an overview of NIEM, with a focus on how agencies at the
local, state and federal levels are adopting and using the model.
About Sypherlink, Inc.
Sypherlink is an information-management-software company that
intelligently links critical information across disparate data sources.
Its two distinct patented technologies automate much of the data sharing
and integration processes, providing government and corporate- sector
organizations with faster, more cost-efficient ways to locate, manage
and use information. Its core technology is a heuristics matching
technology that automates the discovery and mapping of data. Its
virtualization technology for rapid prototyping provides the capability
to access multiple physical, disparate data sources from a single,
virtual query. The company’s client/partner
base includes global 1,000 organizations, government agencies, and
leading systems integrators and application/tool providers. For more

About the NIE Gateway Solution
The company introduced the NIE Gateway solution at IACP LEIM 2007. With
unique technology, pre-built interfaces to rich information sources, and
conformance to the national information exchange model (NIEM), the
solution builds upon existing data-sharing efforts and minimizes the
time and effort to become NIEM conformant. It rapidly links disparate
systems, searches data sources, maps relationships and then presents
information back via a NIEM-conformant layer, enabling every connected
user and provider of information to speak the same language through a
single access point. The NIE Gateway infrastructure is application
agnostic and can be used to accelerate and support the creation of
either a federated environment, in which disparate data sources are
brought together virtually, or in a physical environment that
centralizes disparate data sources. One of the biggest benefits to
utilizing the solution is the ability to repurpose interface maps from
one system to another and between versions of the NIEM standard, as well
as with past versions of the standard, allowing organizations to benefit
from previous efforts. For more information about the NIE Gateway
solution, go to www.sypherlink.com/gateway.
