SurfControl and Network Engines Showcase Multi-Layered Internet
Security Protection Solution at TechEd 2005
Companies Demonstrate Integrated Solution and Host Event on June 7th
SCOTTS VALLEY, Calif. and ORLANDO, Fla., TechEd 2005, June 6
/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- SurfControl (LSE:SRF), a world leader in
multi-layered Internet security for enterprises, and Network Engines, Inc. (NASDAQ:NENG), a leading OEM appliance partner for Microsoft security
solutions, today announced the completed integration of SurfControl Web Filter
for ISA Server 2004 within Network Engines NS6400 Series security appliance.
The combination of SurfControl Web Filter and Microsoft Internet Security &
Acceleration (ISA) Server integrated with Network Engines NS 6400 security
appliance delivers layered threat protection that stops blended attacks,
including phishing, spyware, spam and viruses. The solution prevents the
viewing or distribution of content that violates confidentiality and regulatory
compliance requirements. It also enables enterprises to better manage
employees' Internet access to significantly reduce legal liability,
productivity and network abuse threats.
"Internet threats were once relegated to being pests or distractions; now they
are malicious hazards. Corporations are impacted by significant productivity
and financial losses, the hijacking or abuse of IT resources and exposure to
increased legal liability," said John Murphy, vice president of marketing at
SurfControl. "By working together with Network Engines, we are able to serve
customers with the widest portfolio of Internet security offerings." "We recently launched the Network Engines ISA Plug-in Cooperative Enforcement
(NICE) program for Microsoft ISA Server 2004 interoperability," said Mike
Riley, vice president of marketing and strategy at Network Engines. "SurfControl is the first member of this program, which provides a single
integration framework for multiple third-party products to integrate with
Microsoft ISA Server 2004. By using Network Engines 'NICE-certified' security
products, enterprises can achieve multi-layer security utilizing best-of-breed
security technologies without having to reconfigure the entire infrastructure." SurfControl, Network Engines and Microsoft are delivering a fully integrated
advanced application layer firewall, VPN and Web-Cache solution that leverages
the power of SurfControl's Adaptive Threat Intelligence (ATI) Service.
SurfControl ATI combines 24/7 threat research and analysis from the company's
global team of threat detection experts, with advanced AI technologies and the
world's most comprehensive content databases. This unique service in turn
provides customers with proactive and automatic threat detection updates.
The combined solution allows network administrators to easily manage fast and
secure access to the Internet with granular control. The underlying firewall
technology has been architected to better protect Microsoft's application
infrastructure from internal and external threats. That translates to stronger
protection from worms and other malicious code designed to damage or compromise
networks. Enterprise-class reporting and monitoring tools empower businesses to
analyze, evaluate and respond to the changing Internet threat environment.
"Customers have told use they are looking for a broad, flexible set of security
solutions to keep ahead of constantly evolving threats," said Steve Brown,
director of product management for the Security Business and Technology Unit at
Microsoft Corp. "Companies such as Network Engines and SurfControl are
leveraging the power of the Microsoft ISA Server platform to help mitigate the
security and regulatory compliance challenges customers are facing, while
helping to keep them prepared against emerging security threats in the future." SurfControl, Network Engines and Microsoft Event Being Held at TechEd 2005 SurfControl, Network Engines and Microsoft will showcase the layered threat
protection of this solution as well as the ease-of deployment and management of
the solution on June 7th from 5-7 p.m., at the Peabody Orlando Hotel. Top
