(AP) - THE STRIKE: About 3,600 American Axle and Manufacturing Holdings Inc.
workers have been on strike since Feb. 26 in a dispute over wages and benefits.
THE CHANGE: General Motors Corp. announced Thursday it would kick in $200
million to help American Axle settle the strike with early retirement and buyout
packages as well as lump-sum payments to help workers take pay cuts from their
current rate of around $28 per hour.
