OSLO (Thomson Financial) - Subsea 7 Inc said it has ordered a $190-million
pipelay and construction vessel from the Merwede shipyard.
The Norwegian firm said the new vessel will be equipped with a pipelay suite
for installing flexible flowlines and umbilicals, with delivery scheduled for
the third quarter of 2010.
Subsea 7's chief executive, Mel Fitzgerald, said the firm has now invested
more than $1 billion in new vessels and equipment during the last two years,
with seven new vessels joining its fleet between 2007 and 2009.
