NEW YORK (AP) - Wall Street's increasing optimism has sent stocks sharply
higher for a second straight day. Investors applauded a revised buyout deal for
Bear Stearns Cos. that gives shareholders five times the payout they expected to
get a week ago.
The Dow Jones industrial average is up about 187 points at the 13,548 level,
according to preliminary calculations.
Investors are also pleased about a report from the National Association of
Realtors that existing homes went up in February.
