Trading Halt
Ballarat Goldfields N.L. (BGF) confirms that it is in the process of corporate
discussions which may lead to a merger being recommended by the BGF directors.
BGF expects to shortly be in a position to provide an update in this regard and
accordingly seeks a trading halt to last until the commencement of trade on
Tuesday 17 October 2006 by which time it expects to update the market.
BGF is not aware of any reason why this trading halt should not be granted.

pre-open at the request of the Company, pending the release of an announcement
by the Company. Unless ASX decides otherwise, the securities will remain in

17 October 2006 or when the announcement is released to the market.
