Standard Life plc ('the Company') has been advised by Capita IRG Trustees Limited that on, 1 November 2016, Mr Peter Matthews, Person Closely Associated with Mr Paul Stephen Matthews, exercised 3,313 options over ordinary shares of 12(2) /(9) pence each at an option price of GBP2.716 per share. These options were granted under the Standard Life Sharesave Plan as approved by shareholders at the Annual General Meeting held on 17 May 2011.

Mr Paul Stephen Matthews' total holding following the exercise, including those of all Persons Closely Associated with him, is 241,173 ordinary shares of 12(2) /(9) pence each in the Company.
