The notification set out below is provided in accordance with
the requirements of the EU Market Abuse Regulation.
Standard Life plc ('the Company') has been advised by Capita IRG
Trustees Limited that on 25 August 2016, the Trustees of The
Standard Life Share Plan purchased ordinary shares of 12(2) /(9)
pence each in the Company on the London Stock Exchange at a price
of GBP3.5500 per share on behalf of the executive directors and
other persons discharging managerial responsibilities listed
below.
Each individual also received free shares from the Company as
detailed below in accordance with the share purchase matching
commitment under the Share Plan.

Standard Life Restricted Stock Plan ('the Award'), over existing
ordinary shares in the Company, to Colin Walklin, subject to the
rules of the Standard Life Long Term Restricted Stock Plan. The
Award will normally vest on 30 March 2018. No consideration is
payable on the grant or vesting of the Award. During the vesting
period, the Award carries a right to receive dividend equivalents,
to the extent that the Award vests.
