ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - Medical device maker St. Jude Medical Inc. said
Tuesday the Food and Drug Administration and European regulators approved a new
component for the company's pacemakers and implantable heart devices.
The IsoFlex Optim pacing lead connects heart tissue to the pacing device.
The insulated leads can also be used to connect heart tissue to implantable
defibrillators.
Shares of St. Jude Medical rose 7 cents to $41.42 in after-hours trading.
They closed at $41.35 during the regular session.
