ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - Medical device maker St. Jude Medical Inc. said
Monday the Food and Drug Administration approved its remote monitoring and data
management system for implantable heart devices.
The system, called Merlin.net, is an Internet-based database that maintains
information on a patient's device status. It includes an automated voice
response feature and a direct call feature, allowing clinics to contact patients
more easily.
Shares of St. Jude Medical rose 57 cents to close at $41.50.
