After three months of nonstop mentor meetings, pitch practicing
and business strategizing, 10 startup companies will present their
ideas at the 2016 Sprint Mobile Accelerator Program Demo Day on
Tuesday, May 24, at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts in
Kansas City.
The program began on Feb. 21 when 10 mobile technology startups
from across the country and as far away as France and India made
their home in the Crossroads Arts District of Kansas City. These
startups received advice from other entrepreneurs, investors and
mentors from Sprint and Techstars to help guide them through the
immersive program.
“I am an entrepreneur myself and I know firsthand how hard you
have to work to make your dream a reality,” said Marcelo Claure,
Sprint president and CEO. “I am very proud of what these 10
startups have accomplished and that they are part of the Sprint
Accelerator Program powered by Techstars family. These companies
have used creativity, innovation and forward thinking to provide
mobile solutions.”
The goal of the Sprint Accelerator companies is to create and
provide solutions that incorporate hardware, software platforms and
mobile applications. The range of solutions vary, from:
- Interactive, multi-sensory robotic ball
for special needs children.
- A mobile augmented reality platform
that visualizes real world products in virtual spaces.
- Platform that enables automotive
logistics companies to eliminate paperwork, manage loads, drivers,
and billing all-in-one place.
- The first voice-driven, open source AI
platform for the home and beyond.
The Sprint Accelerator Demo Day begins at 5:30 p.m. Central time
and is free and open to the public. Register here.
“These entrepreneurs have worked hard this year to provide
mobile solutions that will enhance our everyday lives,” said Kevin
McGinnis, vice president of Pinsight Media+, powered by Sprint and
executive sponsor of the Sprint Mobile Accelerator, powered by
Techstars. “Sprint is proud to once again partner with Techstars to
manage this program. These 10 startups will demonstrate how mobile
technology offers a solution for every industry.”
“I am excited for this year’s Sprint Accelerator Demo Day,” said
John Fein, managing director of Techstars. “The support from Sprint
employees, their CEO Marcelo Claure, executives and the Kansas City
community makes this event very special. I am eager to see what
these 10 startups will present to us.”
