Cambridge UK, 17 March 2008: Abcam plc announces that in accordance with the
FSA's Disclosure and Transparency Rules, the Company has been notified that, as
at 17 March 2008, NW Brown Nominees Limited had an indirect interest in voting
rights over 4,284,260 ordinary shares of 1p each in the Company amounting to
approximately 12.375% of the issued share capital of the Company.
