BRANCHVILLE, N.J., June 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Selective Insurance Group, Inc. (NASDAQ:SIGI) announced the following appointments by its subsidiary, Selective Insurance Company of America ("Selective"): Fred J. Ferraro (New Providence, NJ), to senior vice president and equity portfolio manager. Previously he served as vice president and equity portfolio co-manager. Mr. Ferraro joined Selective in July 2003 as a senior equity research analyst. Prior to that, he was an analyst with J.P. Morgan. Mr. Ferraro holds a B.S. degree in economics from Cornell University, Ithaca, NY and an MBA in finance from Baruch College in New York City.
Robert J. Butler (Milford, PA), to vice president, flood operations. Previously he served as assistant vice president of flood operations. Mr. Butler joined Selective in 1981 and has held a variety of positions throughout the organization. Mr. Butler attended Upsala College in East Orange, NJ and holds the Associate in Insurance Services (AIS) designation. Mr. Butler is a member of the Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS) Flood Committee for the Flood Insurance Servicing Companies Association of America (FISCAA).
Brenda M. Hall (Matthews, NC), to vice president and director of field operations. Previously she served as assistant vice president and underwriting manager of Selective's Southern region. Ms. Hall joined Selective in October 2001. Prior to that, she was an underwriting specialist with Zurich Specialties in Dallas, TX. Ms. Hall earned her B.A. from Mount Union College in Alliance, OH and holds a Masters degree from Webster University in Leiden, the Netherlands. Ms. Hall also holds the Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation.
Cynthia B. Heismeyer (Augusta, NJ) to vice president of marketing & communications. Previously, she served as assistant vice president of corporate communications. Ms. Heismeyer joined Selective in 1986 in the information technology area and has held various positions in the corporate marketing, market research and communication departments. Prior to that, she was a manager with American Broadcasting Companies (ABC) in New York. Ms. Heismeyer holds a B.A. in communications and English from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ and has earned the Associate in Insurance Services (AIS), Associate in Automation Management (AAM) and Certified Professional Insurance Woman (CPIW) designations. One of the founding members of the Insurance Professionals of Sussex County, Ms. Heismeyer is also a member of the Insurance Public Relations Council, the International Association of Business Communicators, the Public Relations Society of America, the Society of Insurance Research and the Society of Competitive Intelligence.
Alison J. Mahan (Basking Ridge, NJ), to vice president of business operations. Previously she served as assistant vice president and manager of personal lines operations. Ms. Mahan joined Selective in February 2006. Prior to that, she was director of customer care at Cover-All Technologies, Inc. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from the University of Delaware in Newark, DE and holds the Associate in Automation Management (AAM) designation.
Bruce B. Monahan (Newton, NJ), to vice president of internal audit. Mr. Monahan joined Selective in November 2007. Prior to that, he was assistant vice president at Liberty Mutual Group. Mr. Monahan holds a B.S. degree from the University of Connecticut in Storrs, CT, an MBA from the University of Hartford in West Hartford, CT, and an Advanced Professional Certificate in Information Technology from New York University. He holds designations as a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Financial Services Auditor (CFSA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), Certified Financial Manager (CFM), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) and Associate in Insurance Accounting & Finance (AIAF).
Steven M. Passman (Basking Ridge, NJ) to vice president and assistant general counsel. Mr. Passman joined Selective in 1995 and most recently served as managing attorney for Selective's East Hanover Staff Counsel office. Prior to that, he was a staff counsel attorney at Chubb Insurance. Mr. Passman earned his B.A. in political science from Boston University in Boston, MA, and his J.D. from Rutgers-Camden School of Law in Camden, NJ.
John E. Wisinger (Warren, NJ) to vice president and assistant general counsel. Mr. Wisinger joined Selective in 2005 as corporate counsel. Prior to that, he was vice president and associate counsel for The Chubb Corporation. Mr. Wisinger earned his B.S. in business administration from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Rutherford, NJ and his J.D. from Syracuse University College of Law in Syracuse, NY. Mr. Wisinger is also a member of the Association of Corporate Counsel.
