David Blumenstein, President and CEO of The Segal Group, has announced the following executive promotions, which all took effect on January 1:

John Flynn has been named The Segal Group’s Chief Operating Officer (COO). Mr. Flynn is a senior vice president and has successfully led the firm’s East Region for more than a decade. In this newly created position, he will oversee the Regional Leaders from the East, Midwest, New York and West and will continue to oversee our Canadian business.

John Gingell has been named The Segal Group’s Chief Practice Officer (CPO). Mr. Gingell is a senior vice president and has successfully led The Segal Group’s Midwest Region for more than a decade. In this newly created position, he will be responsible for managing the firm’s Practices (Health, Health Compliance, Retirement, Retirement Compliance) and Special Practices (Administration and Technology Consulting, Communications Consulting, Segal Select Insurance Services and Segal Waters Consulting).

Both Mr. Flynn and Mr. Gingell will report to David Blumenstein and continue to work out of the firm’s Hartford and Chicago offices, respectively. In conjunction with these promotions, Mr. Blumenstein has also appointed two new leaders of the East and Midwest Regions:

Stuart Wohl was named the East Region Leader. Mr. Wohl, a senior vice president, joined the firm in 1988 and has been the East Region Health Practice Leader for the past 10 years. In addition to working with large multiemployer and public sector clients, he has also served as Segal’s retiree health practice leader.

Mitchell Bramstaedt was named the Midwest Region Leader. In his 24 years at Segal, Mr. Bramstaedt, a senior vice president, has held several Midwest leadership roles and has worked with large multiemployer and public sector clients.

Both Mr. Wohl and Mr. Bramstaedt will report to John Flynn and continue to work out of the firm’s Washington, DC and Chicago offices, respectively.
