Aim Is to Raise $10,000 for Children's Heart Foundation at Interop Las Vegas
SAN JOSE, Calif., May 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Secure Computing Corporation (NASDAQ:SCUR) today announced the next phase of its year-long "Tchotchke Challenge" program, developed to collect and donate tradeshow trinkets and cash to local charities throughout the country. The company will be exhibiting at the 2007 Interop Las Vegas Conference and Expo with the goal of presenting the Las Vegas-based Children's Heart Foundation with tchotchkes and a cash donation of $10,000. In February, 2007, Secure Computing donated $10,000 to the UCSF Children's Hospital in San Francisco during the annual RSA security conference. Secure Computing has committed all of its major 2007 tradeshows to the program, hoping to raise a substantial amount for charity this year. The company invites all others planning a tradeshow presence to participate.
The Tchotchke Challenge, spearheaded by Secure Computing, is designed to gather the heavily branded trinkets or "tchotchkes" given away at tradeshows and donate them to children's charities that can use and enjoy them. Secure Computing will set up a "Share Barrel" inside its event booth and encourage tradeshow participants to donate their obtained tchotchkes to children who are residents of Nevada and battling heart conditions. Secure Computing will also make an additional cash donation of $10,000 to Children's Heart Foundation (CHF) if participants are able to fill the barrel to capacity by the end of the event.
"When we established the Tchotchke Challenge in February, it seemed like a fun way to do some good in the communities we visit each year for conferences. The RSA conference confirmed our suspicion that people were willing to part with their trinkets for a good cause," said Atri Chatterjee, senior vice president, worldwide marketing, Secure Computing. "We are eager to roll out part two of this year-long initiative at the Interop conference in Las Vegas and suspect attendees there will help to overflow the share barrel, bringing smiles to the faces of all the children being cared for by the Children's Heart Foundation." About Children's Heard Foundation The Children's Heart Foundation is based in Las Vegas, Nevada, and under its mission strives to improve the care and quality of life for children in Nevada who are born with or develop heart problems. A group of local pediatric cardiologists and concerned families of children with heart problems founded the organization in 2001. CHF has four main goals: to provide a carefree camp experience for children with heart conditions; to educate healthcare professionals and the general public on pediatric cardiology issues; to lend support to families as they deal with the emotional and financial toll exacted by a child's heart problems; to support research efforts in the field of pediatric cardiology.
