-- Saudi Foreign Minister Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir conducted
several high-level meetings in Washington, D.C. this week to discuss regional
issues and bilateral relations.
During these meetings, Minister Al-Jubeir stressed that
Saudi Arabia is a force for
regional peace and stability in the region, including its efforts
to end conflicts in Syria and
Yemen.
"Our region, unfortunately, is experiencing many challenges, and
the resolution of these challenges is critically important to the
future of the region and the world," said Minister Al-Jubeir. "We
are determined to work with our American friends in trying to find
solutions to these areas in a way that promotes peace and security
for all people of the region as well as people of the world."
Minister Al-Jubeir reiterated the Kingdom's plan to deploy
ground forces in Syria to fight
Daesh (ISIS) if the U.S.-led coalition also deploys ground
forces.
"The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
was one of the founding members of the coalition against ISIS in
Syria. Saudi Arabia was one of the first countries to
fly air missions over Syria as
part of this coalition, and we continue to be part of this
coalition," said Minister Al-Jubeir.
Minister Al-Jubeir discussed Saudi
Arabia's military campaign to restore the legitimate
government of Yemen, stating that the Saudi-led coalition is
committed to international law and protecting civilians.
During his visit, Minister Al-Jubeir met with Secretary of State
John Kerry, White House National
Security Advisor Susan Rice, CIA
Director John Brennan and Assistant
Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Anne Patterson.
In addition, Minister Al-Jubeir conducted meetings with several

Cardin (D-MD), Bob Corker
(R-TN), Richard Durbin (D-IL),
Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Tim Kaine (D-VA), Ed
Markey (D-MA), John McCain
