Response to press comment re Annual General Meeting
The Board of John Swan has noted Saturday's press comment regarding proceedings
at the Annual General Meeting held last Friday ('the AGM'), which contained
certain factual inaccuracies. By way of clarification, shareholders in the
Company should in particular note the following:
All the resolutions proposed at the AGM, including the resolution to re-elect
the Chairman, were carried on a show of hands at the meeting; and
The status of planning permission for the development of a new mart at St
Boswells has not changed subsequent to the announcement released by the Company
on 14 December 2007 and reported upon in subsequent financial statements. To
recap, the Scottish Borders Council Planning Committee has resolved to grant
planning permission for the development of a new mart subject to conditions
which require negotiation before formal planning permission can be confirmed.
Discussions between the Company and the Scottish Borders Council Planning
Committee are ongoing.
