BOSTON (Thomson Financial) - Rentech Inc. Thursday reported a wider
fourth-quarter loss of $58.9 million, or 36 cents a share, compared with a loss
of $8.5 million, or 6 cents a share, in the same quarter a year earlier.
The Los Angeles-based provider of energy independence technologies said the
loss in the latest quarter includes a one-time impairment charge of $38.2
million related to the costs for the Rentech Energy Midwest Corp. conversion
project through fiscal 2007. Before the charge, the loss in the quarter was 13
cents a share.
The mean estimate of analysts polled by Thomson Financial, which typically
excludes one-time items, was for a loss of 6 cents a share.
Revenue for the three months ended Sept. 30, rose 10% to $29.6 million from
$26.8 million a year earlier.
Shares rose 3 cents to $1.80.
