Rentech Announces the Hiring of Former Transportation Official Thomas S. Sayles as Senior Vice President - Corporate Communicati

LOS ANGELES, March 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Rentech, Inc. (AMEX:RTK) announced today the hiring of Tom Sayles as Senior Vice President, Corporate Communications and Government Affairs. Mr. Sayles will coordinate Rentech's corporate positioning and government initiatives. Mr. Sayles will report to D. Hunt Ramsbottom, president and CEO of Rentech, Inc.

With a bachelor's degree in Political Science from Stanford and a Juris Doctorate from Harvard University, Mr. Sayles comes to Rentech with over 28 years of experience in communications, governmental affairs and law.

Since 1994, Mr. Sayles served as Vice President, Government and Community Affairs for San Diego, California based Sempra Energy. Prior to joining Sempra Energy, he served as California's Secretary of Business Transportation and Housing and as a member of the cabinet of California Governor Pete Wilson. In that position, he managed numerous state departments, including the Department of Transportation, with a budget in excess of $7 billion and approximately 40,000 employees. Additionally, Mr. Sayles has served on numerous public and private sector boards including California Federal Bank, the University of California Board of Regents, and Unified Western Grocers.
