Reliant Energy will donate up to $5,000 to tree planting efforts across the state, contributing $1 for each customer who converts to online billing rather than receiving paper electricity bills.
To kick-start the campaign, "Go Paperless for a Greener Texas," Reliant Energy has organized a sweepstakes giving customers the chance to win a $3,000 Reliant Energy bill credit or other prizes if they sign up for paperless billing by Oct. 12.

Reliant Energy will donate up to $5,000 to local non-profit conservation organizations to be used for planting trees or $1 for each customer who signs up for paperless billing through Dec. 17.
With paperless billing, customers manage their Reliant Energy bills online, resulting in less mailbox clutter, no checks to write and no stamps to buy. Customers also help the environment by cutting down on paper consumption.
