Expomedia partnership with Gruner + Jahr
to launch specialised exhibitions and events in Germany
The Board of Expomedia, the AIM quoted exhibition organiser and provider of
flexible exhibition space, announces today that it has entered into a
partnership agreement with Gruner + Jahr AG, Europe's largest magazine
publisher, to launch specialised exhibitions and conferences in Germany.
The joint venture between Expomedia Deutschland GmbH, Expomedia's German
subsidiary, and G+J, part of the Bertelsmann group, will set up specialised
exhibitions and events that respond to the demand for highly professional b-2-b
trading platforms, as well as the exchange of business knowledge. All the events
will be fully supported by the titles of G+J's Business Press which encompasses
CAPITAL, IMPULSE, BORSE ONLINE and FINANCIAL TIMES DEUTSCHLAND. The first two
exhibitions have been launched for autumn 2005 and will focus on the digital
media and nanotechnology sector.
The events will take place in the newly constructed 7,000m(2) EXPO XXI Cologne
International Expocentre exhibition and conference venue, which is due to open
officially on 1st May 2005. Construction on EXPO XXI Cologne started in spring
last year and is now reaching its final stages. Interest in the venue has been
very strong and an additional area covering 1,400m(2) in the basement of the
historical EXPO XXI building has recently been added.
"The opportunity to develop our business into the events area is a logical step
for us," says Matthias Grossmann, Managing Director for CAPITAL and IMPULSE. "By
bringing together the strength of the G+J Business Press with the specific
expertise of Expomedia, we are confident of creating new business and well
designed events that respond to the needs of our client base."
Mark Shashoua, CEO of Expomedia sees this as a significant development for the
Group. "We are delighted to be working with Gruner + Jahr in the German market.
This complements our existing agreements with other media groups, De Telegraaf
in Holland and Axel Springer in Hungary, and is a key part of our strategy for
the German market. We have already established our first multi-functional venue
in Germany with the opening of EXPO XXI Cologne in May and now we have a
strategic partnership with a media giant that will enable us to organise a range
of highly focused professional events together."
