SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) - RadiSys Corp. said Monday it is buying some of
Intel Corp.'s modular communications platforms business for $25 million.
The deal also includes about $6.8 million of inventory and other
considerations.
Products involved in the transaction include ATCA compute and packet
processing blades, ATCA chassis, chassis management hardware and software
modules, as well as cPCI blades, cPCI chassis and other legacy system products.
Blades are parts of network systems that handle data switching and other
processes.
RadiSys, which makes computer systems for embedded computer applications,
said a "significant number" of Intel workers that deal with the platforms are
expected to join its operations.
RadiSys estimated the deal would add at least $50 million of ongoing revenue
annually once the platforms are folded into its operations.
The acquisition is expected to close this month, subject to customary
closing conditions.
