(Repeating to clarify reporting period in second paragraph)
LONDON (Thomson Financial) - M&C Saatchi, the UK advertising group,
increased half-year profits by nearly 60 pct, thanks to strong trading in the
UK, and said prospects for the second half remained in line with expectations.
The agency, whose customers include Pernod Ricard and Royal Bank of
Scotland, said pretax profit rose to 3.9 mln stg in the six months to June 30,
on sales up 8 pct to 37.3 mln.
"The results for the period show significant progress for the group," chief
executive David Kershaw said in a statement. "Trading has been strong. The UK
businesses continue to show good growth."
"We are pleased that both the US and European businesses are moving into
profit. The outlook for the rest of the year remains in line
with expectations."
