RCN Connects Cable TV, Internet & Telephone Customers in D.C. Area to 'Something More'
New Name, New Brand & Nationals Baseball For 'Starpower'
HERNDON, Va., May 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- RCN Corporation (NASDAQ:RCNI),
a leading provider of total communications service, today announced that the
name of its Washington D.C. Metro Area subsidiary is changing from Starpower to
RCN-DC. The Company will make the transition to its new name, logo and brand
motto, "Connect to Something More," over the next few months.
"Whether its being the first local cable company to carry the Nationals
baseball games, or the first company to provide bundled Cable TV, Internet and
Telephone broadband service, RCN connects our customers to something more,"
said VP and General Manager Richard Wadman. "This 'something more' is rooted in
RCN's continued commitment to delivering the highest quality service in the
industry." Wadman said that Starpower had been a joint venture between Pepco
Communications, L.L.C., a wholly owned but separate affiliate of Pepco
Holdings, Inc., and RCN Corporation. In December 2004, RCN acquired Pepco's
remaining 50 percent ownership. As a result of purchasing Starpower, RCN opened
a Southern corporate office in Virginia where many executives will be located.
This now gives the new RCN four corporate locations: Herndon, VA, Princeton,
NJ, and Wilkes-Barre and Lehigh Valley, PA.
"Our customers have already begun to see our new company colors and logo in
their recent monthly invoices and invoice stuffers," Wadman said. "And, they'll
see it in local television announcements and direct mailers received at their
homes." About RCN Corporation RCN Corporation, http://www.rcn.com/, is one of the largest facilities- based
