Global satellite leader SES announced today that it will be adding QVCHD
to its line up of available channels. QVC is the first home retail
shopping channel to offer high-definition (HD) programming through SES
AMERICOM’s industry leading HD-PRIME ®
platform.
“We are excited to collaborate with QVC, one
of the most recognized brands in the consumer and broadcast markets, to
help elevate and differentiate its brand through the first HD offering
of any multimedia retailer,” said Bryan
McGuirk, SES AMERICOM’s President of Media and
Enterprise. “As consumer demand for HD
programming continues to increase, we offer broadcasters and cable
operators the most robust, reliable and customizable HD offering for
their customers.”
QVC will be relying on AMC-11, a satellite already delivering some of
America's leading cable programs and reaching more than 80 million
domestic households.
“QVCHD is the next step in delivering our
customers an enhanced shopping experience,”
said Al Ulozas, QVC’s senior vice president
of affiliate sales and marketing. “Through
our relationship with SES AMERICOM, we are able to bring our products to
life one step further – with crystal clear
picture quality.”
SES AMERICOM continues to expand its industry-leading HD platform,
adding QVC to a growing list of leading programmers distributing HD
channels aboard its satellites, including A&E, Discovery, MTV Networks,
NBC Universal, PBS and Scripps.
