Inaugural Charity Event for Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Greater Atlanta to Promote Women's Financial Health
ATLANTA, March 24 /PRNewswire/ -- More than 100 handbags, wallets and accessories from well-known designers, local artists and boutiques will be up for bid at the inaugural "Purse Strings" charity benefit. The silent auction will be held from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 30, at the Biltmore Ballrooms in midtown Atlanta. It will benefit Consumer Credit Counseling Service (CCCS) of Greater Atlanta, Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping individuals and families achieve financial stability.
"Our goal for Purse Strings is to raise funds to provide valuable education and counseling programs for women and young adults," said Suzanne Boas, CCCS president. "We also hope to raise awareness of the need for women to take charge of their financial future." Belinda Stubblefield, owner of WineStyles and a member of the agency's board of directors, is chair for the event. Lani Wong, executive director and chair of the National Association of Chinese Americans, and Martha Greenway, chief planning and development officer of Fulton County Schools, are the co-chairs.

"The majority of CCCS' clients are low-income women, and I became involved with this event to raise awareness and funding to help provide sustainable solutions." In 2007, more than 400,000 individuals received credit counseling or attended educational classes from CCCS as they sought help to pay down credit card debt, avoid foreclosure and determine if they needed to file for bankruptcy.
