-- Nonprofit and Internet Leaders Welcome to Participate in
Call for Nominations Now through June
RESTON, Virginia, May 28, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Public Interest
Registry, the nonprofit operator of the .org domain, opened the
call for nominations to identify seven new members to serve on the
.org Advisory Council. Comprised of individuals who represent a
diverse spectrum of noncommercial organisations from around the
world, the .org Advisory Council is a valuable resource to Public
Interest Registry and provides advice on policies, issues and
opportunities facing the global .org community.
Now through June 5, 2015,
individuals may submit nominations – including self-nominations –
detailing the applicant's experience in leading a noncommercial
organization, commitment to promoting the noncommercial use of the
Internet and desire to ensure .org remains the domain of choice for
any person, corporation or organisation to share their causes,
passions and ideas.
"Since its inception in 2008, the .org Advisory Council has been
instrumental to the success of the .org domain, which has
experienced year over year growth and now boasts more than 10.5
million registrants worldwide," said Brian Cute, CEO of Public
Interest Registry. "As the internet continues to expand, we invite
leaders in the noncommercial sector to join the .org Advisory
Council and help .org continue to be the online home for those who
serve the public interest."
Public Interest Registry will select leaders representing small,
medium and large organizations across many regions of the world
including Asia, Africa, Europe and North
America. Within this role, the selected members will
communicate with .org registrants through surveys and open forums,
participate in education opportunities, promote .org within the
international community and issue an Annual Report, "The
Dashboard," outlining all activities and achievements throughout
the year. Members will begin their service in July 2015 and serve through 2018.
